Welcome!
Thank you for visiting Nest Postpartum. As a certified Postpartum Doula and Lactation educator, I understand the unique challenges that come with caring for a newborn. I am committed to providing hands-on, judgment-free, and emotional support ensuring that families feel empowered and confident during this exciting yet challenging time. Whether you need help with lactation and feeding, overnight support, or just someone to talk to, I’m here to guide you through every step of the journey. With 16 years of experience, I can offer the knowledge and expertise to help you adjust to life with your new baby and create a nurturing environment for your growing family.
How I can help…
During my time at your home, I will ask how I can best support you. This could include caring for the baby while you rest, or helping with household tasks such as laundry, tidying, meal prep, and running errands. I can also assist with washing and sterilizing bottle and pump parts, and keeping the nursery organized and stocked.
Breastfeeding Support
As a lactation educator, I offer hands-on and remote support to assist with various aspects of breastfeeding including latch, positioning, and troubleshooting common challenges. I also provide weight checks and pumping advice. If I encounter any concerns beyond my scope, I will refer clients to a more suitable professional. Additionally, I will be offering an Intro to Breastfeeding class in the Fall.
Overnight Care
Postpartum healing and adjustment often requires catching up on sleep. As part of an overnight shift, I can assist with baby-related tasks like washing bottles and folding laundry. Throughout the night, I can feed and soothe the baby while you get some rest. For breastfeeding mothers, I can bring the baby to you for feedings and then take them back to the nursery to change and settle them back to sleep.
Emotional Support
Giving birth is a life-changing experience that can elicit a range of emotions. As your Doula, I am here to listen to you without judgement or bias. Sharing your journey with someone who has been there can be helpful, and I am excited to hear all about your unique experience.
Planning for Baby
After many years in the childcare industry, I became very knowledgeable in baby gear. I have tried numerous brands and can advise you on what you need and what to avoid. Together, we can choose items that fit your needs and budget, and I can also help you organize your nursery. Additionally, I can ensure that you have the necessary postpartum care items for a smooth transition when bringing your baby home.
Newborn Care
As a parent, it's important to remember that every baby is unique, whether it's your first time or fifth. I can provide you with guidance on essential tasks such as sleep shaping, feeding, safety, bathing, and developmental milestones, all based on evidence-based practices. Let me help you navigate this exciting new journey.

Meet Allison
I appreciate your interest in Nest Postpartum! Originally from San Diego, our family was relocated to Virginia Beach due to the military. We are a family of four, with two amazing children – Zech (12) and Pippa (1). I have been working as a nanny for 16 years, but my passion to support families during this delicate time has led me to become a postpartum doula and lactation consultant. I have always been passionate about birth, newborns, and ensuring that families receive the necessary care postpartum. My inspiration to pursue this career was driven by the emotional and physical (hello exhaustion!) struggles of my friends postpartum. This inspired me to help as many parents as possible during their fourth trimester. I am thrilled to support new parents and their families during this special time.
Testimonials
I was very grateful to have Allison’s knowledge and expertise through my first pregnancy and after my son was born. She is extremely approachable and I never felt like anything was off limits. If I ever felt stressed out or worried about something, she was always there to provide extensive information and support to help me get through it. She is very experienced when it comes to everything related to a newborn. I definitely plan on working with Allison again in the future and would highly recommend her to my family and friends!

Allison was a godsend. She was timely and dependable, providing us with a consistency of care that we really appreciated. She is extremely knowledgeable about newborn care but also provided invaluable insight into breastfeeding/pumping as I worked to establish nursing my newborn. She made sure that I was able to sleep soundly knowing my baby was in the best of hands! I cannot recommend her enough - she is truly the best.

We couldn't be more grateful for Allison's incredible care and support as our night nanny. We had Allison’s help during weeks 3-7 after our second daughter was born. It was great to have Allison’s help changing, soothing, and putting baby back to sleep during those first few weeks at night. The extra sleep felt wonderful and she was always so gentle with our baby girl. She’s very experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to newborn care and it was always helpful to have her as a sounding board for anything feeding or sleep related. We highly recommend Allison to anyone in need of a reliable, caring, and professional night nanny.
